Gum Treatment

To optimize gum health, our main goal is to remove plaque, a whitish film that collects where the gums meet the teeth. The mix of food, saliva and bacteria that forms plaque produces an acid that leaks into the gums, eroding the bone that supports your teeth.

During your first visit, we’ll perform a general gum assessment, discuss the condition of your gums, and develop a treatment plan if necessary.

Gingivitis

Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums that typically precedes periodontitis if left unchecked.

Periodontitis

Periodontitis is the inflammation of the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. In its earliest stages, periodontitis is difficult to see, but if left untreated for too long, your teeth can become loose and even fall out. Here are some warning signs:

  • red, puffy, or tender gums
  • gums that bleed easily
  • constant bad breath
  • sensitive teeth
  • receding gum line
